Audience feedback results

The results we got from our audience feedback questionnaire were:

1. Everyone thought the name 'The Call' was very good. Some people added notes to say it was very appropriate for the film.

2. Most people thought the filming was good, but there could have been more varied shots. This point had already been pointed out; if we were to do it again we would have done this.

3. Everyone thought the editing was satisfactory. From added notes, the reason it was only satisfactory was because it wasn't as clean as it could have been.

4. Most people thought the acting was good. Some acting wasnt as good as other parts and that one actor was much better than the other.

5. Everyone thought the ending was very good. They liked the cliffhanger and not knowing exactly what had happened. They all said the ending was the best bit of the film; the acting, the filming and the storyline.

6. All feedback was positive for the choice of music. All answers were very good for this. That the music set the mood (this is what we wanted)

7. People thought the location was good, but could have been better. They thought the location could have been a bit more scary and it should have been dark. It could have been made a bit darker, but not much because we needed a certain amount of light to film in.

8. The audience thought the killer character was believable. They thought filming it without actually seeing him was good because it made people unable to say he doesnt look like a killer.

9. The audience thought there was a good build of tension at the end. Although they thought it could have been extended a bit more to create an even bigger build of tnesion, (this is something we did actually change)

10. Finally, most people said they thought the genre was thriller, a few even said a phsychological thriller.

This information was really helpful. It enabled us to see what we ahd achieved with the film and what wasnt so good, which we would change if we filmed it again.

Final Film

Final poster

Here is the final poster:

We tried to make it look like it was in an office, by using pieces of paper on a desk, this makes the audience think that the picture is from a scene in the film.
We added a post- it- note which we then put the tagline onto. The post- it- note is the only bit of colour on the poster which makes it stand out; the rest is in black and white, which makes it look mysterious.

Article

This is my finished article, i have made changes to the previous first draft article that i posted. I decided the quote boxes looked better not in a box.
I've then added one image, initially I had two images but decided it looked too cramped so went for just one. I added an image to show the audience a snap shot of the film.
I chose that colour scheme as i wanted some stand- out colours because it needs to attract the reader's eye so that they stop and read it.
I've then added something called 'snap facts' this is something that would be put on every one of the film reviews; it instantly gives the reader a bit more knowledge of the film and also gives information that may not be mentioned in the article.

Article research

After starting off my article I decided to look into other articles as this would help me with further deatails and ideas so I researched into a few articles to help with my article. I wanted to get an insight to the right fonts, sizes and images that are best to use.
Here is what i found:

I liked many things on this article and got alot of ideas for mine.
The first thing was the star rating; it allows the reader to see how good the film is before watching it. Also, it introduces the reader into the article. The second thing was the images, there isnt just one large image used. They have used one larger image with two small ones. This effective as there is more than one visual reading for the reader; they can look at what the film is like aswell as just reading about it.

In this article I liked how they had taken a part out of the article and enlarged it. However, I don't like that there is just one image and it's quite large. I would prefer more than one, smaller images rather than having one large image like this.

Film change

After getting feedback about our film we dedided the end was too rushed and so we needed to add some extra shots so that we could add some tension and have more build up towards the end.

Our plan is:
- Shots of the anonymous caller making his way to the end scene; this will break up the driving scene.
- Over the shoulder shot of the caller dialing on his phone.

Audience feedback questionnaire

We produced a questionnaire to give to people who had watched our film so we could get some feedback and find out what they thought.

Article- First draft

First draft of the article:

As you can see I have placed the title of the article on there, I have chosen a font that is the same as used in the film. This is so the article is recognisable and people notice immediately what film the article will be about.
I have then added a tagline underneath the title, this is to give the reader a slight insight to the film that is being reviewed.
I then added some speech boxes, in here i will put the quotes from film magazines of their oppinion of the film. This allows the reader to instantly and easily the views of other peoples and will encourage them to read the article.

Poster ideas

We want the poster to look dark and thriller like. We think to do this we need one main, big picture with the information added on to it.

Here are the posters we found which are similar to what we want to create and what we will use to help create ours:

Like I said before, with wanting a big picture with very little writing. This means the picture is used to explain most of what the film is about and to sell the film.
The poster is dark with very little colour, this gives a sense of darkness and mystery which is what we want to create with our poster.
The posters main colours are black and white which make the film appear dark and those two colours are often associated with thriller films.

This poster is quite simple, it has two different pictures with the information separating them. The blurred images in the background give a sense of action and excitement.

music thoughts

The music we want for our film must be something that adds some tension, sounds scary and sets the mood of scenes, which in our case needs to be mystery.

We listened through mny different types and sounds and found two tracks that we feel fit our film well.

Here is what we have chosen:

This music will be used for the beginning, as we needed music to set the mood and show the audience that it's going to be thriller, this music suits this as it sounds mysterious and definitely sets the tone as being strange and slightly scary.

This is the music we will use for the car journey the characters have, it suits this scene as this is when the action begins and the music sounds action like, but at the same time also has a mysterious sound to it.

FILM- FIRST DRAFT

We posted the first draft on our blog so that we could show the progression of making our film.
Now what we need to add to the film is music, a couple more scenes that we feel need to be added and tidy up the scene changes.
